Brenda Levin
discusses with DnA's Frances Anderton the great contribution of Ira
Yellin to the City of Los Angeles, on the eve of Yellin's funeral at
the Cathedral of Our Lady Of the Angels. Ira Yellin saw in the fading
old glories of downtown Los Angeles the potential for reviving historic
architecture and
the city.
"Like
it or not, the questions of the future for Los Angeles will be made by our
generation, and we will participate either actively or by omission. If we choose
to engage and do this work, and if we do it well, it will be a remarkable legacy
that we leave to our children and grandchildren."
